A snapshot is a saved copy of a computer's disk from a particular day. If something goes wrong, you can put the primary disk back to how it was that day.

How they work

  • They are automatic. Each disk gets one snapshot a day, whether the computer is running or stopped.
  • Each one is kept for 7 days, then removed.
  • There is no separate charge for them on your bill.
  • You cannot take one yourself. There is no button for it, so the newest restore point is the most recent daily snapshot. Before a risky change, copy important files somewhere safe, such as Cloud Drive.

See them

Company admins can open them.

  1. Click Computers in the sidebar.
  2. Click the computer's name.
  3. Click the Snapshots tab.

A new computer shows No snapshots yet until its first daily one is taken.

What you can do

Click the menu at the end of a snapshot's row:

  • Restore this snapshot: put the primary disk back to that day. This works for the primary disk only, so the option is greyed out for an extra disk.
  • Edit description: add a note of up to 200 characters, such as what was working that day. Click Save description.
  • Delete snapshot: remove it permanently. Tick the box, then click Delete snapshot.

What they are not

Snapshots stay with the computer. You cannot download one, or use it on another computer. They last only 7 days, so they do not replace long-term backups of important files. When you delete a computer, its snapshots are deleted too.
