Browser or Remote Desktop, which should I use
A browser needs nothing installed. Remote Desktop needs an app and an allowed address, and can use your own printers and drives.

Both open the same computer, with the same files and programs. You can use either one at any time.
| Browser | Remote Desktop | |
|---|---|---|
| What you need | A browser | The Remote Desktop app. Windows includes it, and a Mac needs a free download. |
| Windows password | Not needed | You type it |
| Where it works | Anywhere you can sign in to the portal | Only from allowed addresses. Downloading the file adds yours. |
| Copy and paste | Text | Text and files |
| Moving files | Not available | Your own drives appear inside the computer |
| Your own printers | Not available | Available |
| Sharing your screen with a link | Available | Not available |
The Computers page marks Remote Desktop as Recommended.
Use a browser when you cannot install anything, when your address is not on the list, or when you want to share your screen.
