On a Mac, Remote Desktop needs an app from Microsoft called Windows App. It used to be called Microsoft Remote Desktop. If you would rather install nothing, use a browser.

The computer must be running.

  1. Install Windows App from the Mac App Store.
  2. Click Computers in the portal's sidebar.
  3. Find the computer and click Connect.
  4. Click Connect via RDP. The computer's RDP and credentials tab opens.
  5. Under Sign-in details, click the copy button beside Password.
  6. Click Download RDP file. Your current network address is added to the allowed list at the same time.
  7. Open the downloaded file. It opens in Windows App.
  8. Paste the password when asked.
  9. Click Continue if the app says it cannot verify the certificate.

Employees use the menu at the end of the computer's row, then Connect with the Remote Desktop app.

If the file does not open in the app

Add the computer by hand in Windows App:

  1. Click the plus button.
  2. Click Add PC.
  3. Type the IP address from the Sign-in details section as the PC name.
  4. Add a user account, with .\ followed by the Username, and the Password.

If you add it by hand, your address is not added for you. Click Download RDP file once anyway, or ask your admin to add your address.

Control keys

Windows uses the Control key where a Mac uses Command. To copy inside the computer, for example, try Control and C.
