When you are charged

Your card is charged on your renewal date. Anything you add partway through a period is charged right away, for the part that is left.

Your default card is charged automatically on your renewal date, and again whenever you add something partway through a billing period. To see your next charge, click Billing in the sidebar and look at Next charge.

Regular charges

Most items are charged monthly. Cloud Drive and Authenticator can also be yearly. There is nothing to click: the charge happens on its own.

When you add something

These are charged when you confirm, so you may see more than one charge in a month. Prorated means you pay only for the part of the billing period that is left.

  • A new computer is charged as soon as you create it, and prorated if your billing period is already under way. Due today shows the amount first.
  • An extra disk or a bigger primary disk is prorated, and charged when you confirm.
  • A static IP is charged when you confirm.
  • A bigger plan for a computer is charged before the computer changes, for the prorated difference. Charged today shows the amount first.
  • More Cloud Drive storage takes effect right away, and the prorated difference is charged then.
  • Authenticator is prorated to your renewal date when your company already has a subscription.
  • Recording is added to your subscription when you turn it on. The monthly price shows before you confirm.

When you create a computer, Due today sometimes shows nothing to pay. This happens when the same plan was removed or downgraded earlier in the billing period, because that period is already paid.

When you remove something

Nothing is refunded, and any lower charge starts at your next renewal. See refunds when you cancel, delete or downgrade.

If a charge fails

Your account goes past due. See my payment failed.
